Top Media Luminaries to Explore the Power of Storytelling at 2014 Paley International Council Summit

The Paley Center for Media has announced the full program for the annual 2014 Paley International Council (IC) Summit, scheduled for November 20-21 in New York. IC2014: The Power of Storytelling will bring together a stellar line-up of leading executives, creators, and innovators to celebrate the industry’s legacy and discuss the changing ways in which we create, consume, and connect on a global scale through stories. With dynamic conversations about new technologies and distribution platforms, the sessions will explore media through the lens of entertainment, news, advertising, sports, social media, gaming, and other key industries.

Among the sessions to be featured at IC2014 are:

  •     A landmark conversation between Netflix’s Ted Sarandos and TV pioneer Norman Lear
  •     An exploration of virtual reality and immersive storytelling with Facebook VP of Partnerships Dan Rose and Oculus VR’s Jason Rubin, conducted by David Kirkpatrick, author of “The Facebook Effect”
  •     A discussion about the narrative power of sports in popular culture with Grantland’s Bill Simmons and ESPN Films’ Connor Schell, conducted by Jason Hirschhorn, CEO and Chief Curator, REDEF
  •     A dialogue about promoting social and cultural impact around the world through storytelling in different genres and media with Particpant Media CEO Jim Berk, AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan, and NBA Commissioner Emeritus David Stern
