Samsung, Sony Electronics, Cisco, ISD and others to create new types of visual sensors powered by Prism Skylabs

'There's been tremendous advancements in video sensors in recent years, and by adding Prism directly to these devices, they're open to a whole new range of applications and functionality.' — Steve Russell, Prism CEO and Founder

Prism Skylabs, the global leader in cloud-based video intelligence and imagery, today announced it has opened up its platform to device manufacturers, powering a new type of visual sensor with broad applications in retail and other customer-facing businesses of all sizes.

“We wanted to make Prism’s software available to a new class of users,” said Prism CEO and Founder Steve Russell. “There’s been tremendous advancements in video sensors in recent years, and by adding Prism directly to these devices, they’re open to a whole new range of applications and functionality.”

With Prism Connect, a myriad of low-cost, connected video devices can now natively run Prism’s analytics, data visualization, and privacy-protection software.

Prism Connect redefines the very nature of what a camera is and can do:

●    Smarter: Powerful analytics enable in-depth understanding of movement, interaction, and activity
●    Simpler: Out-of-the-box cloud connectivity allows for immediate installation, calibration, and infinite storage
●    More Versatile: Bandwidth reduction and privacy-protection enable broader applications to serve new markets
●    More Accessible: Sleek mobile UI and HTML5 app to remotely browse, search, and view imagery.

More than 10 companies have already joined the Prism Connect program, including Samsung, Sony Electronics, Intel, Cisco, ISD, and Ring, all of whom have the ability to integrate Prism’s software into their next-generation sensors. Prism Connect can also be embedded on cameras from Axis Communications, using the Axis Camera Application Platform (ACAP).

The first camera Powered by Prism is set to launch later this month via ISD, an award-winning edge device manufacturer.

With Prism Connect, the company is also launching an updated mobile application that offers the fastest, sleekest, and most searchable way to interact with cameras and sensor networks. It enables retailers and other businesses to instantly search and find any moment or event, and quickly browse through hours, days, or weeks of video imagery.

“Prism has always offered a faster, higher-quality remote browsing experience that works with more cameras using less bandwidth. The combination of the mobile UI and Prism Connect really put them head and shoulders above anything we’ve seen coming out of the consumer video space,” said ISD Founder and CEO Ian Johnston.
