Vonnegut, Bradbury Among New Biographies Added to the American National Biography
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 04, 2014 -- Twice a year, this digital resource updates with new profiles of recently deceased Americans who have shaped world history and culture. The 75 new biographies will be free to explore until April 2015.
Said Ware of her work with assistant editor Rob Heinrich: “It usually takes about a year for an entry to make its way from commission to submission to publication, which means that many of the entries in this update represent our priorities of a year ago. We are delighted to share the results of our efforts.”
Notable names include Dave Brubeck, Anne Braden, George Plimpton, and Nina Simone. Compelling stories are brought to light with some of ANB’s lesser known figures—like tennis professional Alice Marbles who went undercover to spy on the Germans in World War II. Or Dagmar Wilson, a courageous peace and antinuclear activist as well as a celebrated children’s book author.
These biographies will join the expanding collection of nearly 19,000 biographies already online.
