Patients play a critical role in the success of healthcare and with appropriate access to the right data, they can take ownership of their health through lifestyle and behavioral changes. A new partnership between Oregon-based Quality Health Solutions (QHS), SDLC Partners, L.P. and Gateway Health aims to help them to do just that.

Effective in November, Gateway Health’s nearly 310,000 Medicare and Medicaid members in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and Delaware now have access to the industry renowned Health Risk Intervention offered by QHS.

“Our philosophy is that with the right research, we can address each member’s unique challenges to improve their health and well-being,” said Regina Vercilla, Director of Care Management at Gateway Health. “The Health Risk Intervention contains some great features that we are confident will provide our members with the utmost value.”

“Implementing a program of this scale is no small feat, but working together as a team with QHS and Gateway Health, we experienced a smooth implementation and are looking forward to offering the program in additional states,” said Christopher Miladinovich, Senior Manager at SDLC Partners.

“We are honored to have been chosen to partner with Gateway Health and SDLC Partners to develop the Health Appraisal functionality and look forward to assisting in improving the health and productivity of their member populations,” said QHS President and CEO Brian J. Thomas.

The Health Risk Intervention was developed by Pro-Change Behavior Systems. Pro-Change is a research and development company that has partnered with QHS to commercialize and disseminate its research. The Pro-Change Health Risk Intervention has received the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) HIP 2 Certification. Gateway Health chose to integrate the survey because of its NCQA certification, using easy-to-understand language and research that backs up the Health Risk Intervention questions.

With the implementation of this program, Gateway Health members have the option to access and utilize Health Risk Intervention as part of their benefits plan. The program includes a brief questionnaire that uses validated questions to assess readiness to change health risks, and provides immediate evidence-based, stage-matched feedback so that members can make progress on that specific behavior.
