New Train Along the French and Italian Riviera Launches

Tickets for the brand-new Thello train traveling between Marseille and Milan are now on sale for December departures through ItaliaRail.

New Riviera Route train offers modern seats with plenty of leg room and lots of space to recline.

ItaliaRail is excited to start offering this new Riviera Route along the coast of the French and Italian Mediterranean amid some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe.

ItaliaRail, the experts on train travel to, from and around Italy announced today that tickets for the new Thello Riviera train connecting the South of France and Italy are now available for purchase.

The new train will travel between Marseille and Milan, offering stops along the way in popular and dazzling French Riviera destinations such as Monaco, Nice, Antibes and Cannes plus the picturesque Italian seaside cities of Genoa, Savona and San Remo. The train traveling from France to Italy leaves Marseille at 3:30 pm and arrives in Milan at 10:50 pm. Trains in the opposite direction depart Milan Centrale station at 3:10 pm and arrive at Marseille St. Charles station at 10:29 pm.

Sample travel times and price ranges between key cities include:

Milan-Nice: 4 hours and 41 minutes - from $20
Genoa-Nice: 3 hours - from $20
Genoa-Marseille: 5 hours and 35 minutes - from $34
Milan-Marseille: 7 hours and 20 minutes - from $40

The train itself is similar to Trenitalia’s state-of-the-art, high-speed Frecciabianca train. All trains offer amenities such as air conditioning, generous space for luggage, a refreshment service, and power sockets at each seat. Both first and second class are available, with first class boasting larger seats capable of a deeper recline and improved legroom.
