Consumer Reports Health Launches New Online Caregiver Resource
Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) November 06, 2014 -- A new online web portal has been launched by Consumer Reports, offering a range of free materials for family caregivers that includes information on hospice and palliative care. The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization was proud to work with Consumer Reports to develop a Guide to Palliative and Hospice Care (PDF) available free of charge on this new web hub. The guide is also available in Spanish (PDF).
The editors of Consumer Reports have brought together in one convenient web-portal a series of materials of interest to family caregivers and patients themselves. They include articles from Consumer Reports magazine, Choosing Wisely brochures, the Consumer Reports video portfolio, and other resources that provide a thorough review of this important topic.
As Consumer Reports notes on the page, "This roundup of medical issues and tips will help you and your loved one make decisions about getting the best care."
As with other items offered by Consumer Reports, the materials on the new caregiver hub are free for consumers and their families to read, print and share.
This new caregiver hub also features a link to NHPCO's Moments of Life: Made Possible by Hospice campaign, which offers consumers a collection of videos featuring real patients and the unique benefits they receive from hospice care. Free information about hospice, including tips on choosing a quality hospice and finding a local provider, is on the Moments of Life website, as well as advice for caregivers or those dealing with grief and loss.
“We greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with Consumer Reports on this new resource and the entire Choosing Wisely campaign,” said J. Donald Schumacher, NHPCO president and CEO. “Helping consumers who are facing a serious or life-limiting illness better understand options for care is a priority at NHPCO. The fact that Consumer Reports is tackling this crucial issue will ensure that many more Americans are well informed, especially as our population continues to age.”
“We are proud to partner with an organization such as NHPCO. Their focus on such important issues is right in line with the goals of the Consumer Reports health mission, which is to ensure consumers receive unbiased, easy to understand information, when faced with difficult decisions.” says Dominic Lorusso, Director Health Partnerships, Consumer Reports.
NHPCO is a founding consumer partner for Choosing Wisely®, the national campaign launched in 2012 by the ABIM Foundation and Consumer Reports promoting informed healthcare decision making.
