First World Trade Center Tenants Open for Business with Advanced Networks from ShoreGroup
NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) November 06, 2014 -- ShoreGroup today announced that it has designed and deployed the first building and client networks within the new World Trade Center, paving the way for more than 6,000 employees to begin work at the complex. The successful cutovers executed throughout the past week are the culmination of months of planning and engineering to ensure that vital network services were in place to support a seamless transition for the first tenants to occupy the complex.
The series of projects began with the design and implementation of the core backbone for the 104-floor One World Trade Center building. This infrastructure supports the critical video surveillance, access control and IP-based communications that enable intelligent building management throughout the entire structure. The core backbone is so integral to the interconnection of vital building systems that key elements of ShoreGroup’s network design were incorporated during the tower’s construction phase.
Next, ShoreGroup implemented a versatile network for the first anchor tenant to relocate to the new complex. The tenant, a government agency, occupies more than 600,000 square feet on 11 floors in Four World Trade Center. ShoreGroup completed the large deployment in time for the agency’s move-in date, ensuring that network services were immediately in place to connect employees and business applications upon relocation. The network supports up to 2,000 employees, and utilizes a distributed core and two data centers to provide the redundancy and fault tolerance necessary to maintain the agency’s critical operations.
ShoreGroup has also designed and deployed the network for the first commercial tenant to open in One World Trade Center. The tenant is a premier media company whose global headquarters occupy 1.2 million square feet of office space on 25 floors. The new network supports 3,400 employees, and provides the latest communications applications to improve staff and customer collaboration. The network also incorporates video surveillance and security applications within the client’s space.
ShoreGroup services for all projects included comprehensive network design and the procurement of systems and solutions to meet each client’s specific requirements. Systems were staged at ShoreGroup’s facilities and configured in advance to streamline their deployment at the World Trade Center. In addition, ShoreGroup provided end-to-end project management to maintain critical communications between parties and coordinate all implementation activities to ensure on-time availability. The implementations included industry-leading voice and collaboration solutions from Cisco Systems, multimedia conferencing, routing and switching infrastructure, and wireless communication networks which support employee mobility and productivity throughout the expansive space.
“ShoreGroup is elated that our clients have entrusted us with the responsibility of ensuring that their new network resources were up and operational at the World Trade Center,” said Jeff Ortolano, ShoreGroup’s Director of Sales for the New York metropolitan area. “The scope and complexity of these concurrent deployments, when coupled with our clients being the first to occupy the buildings, make ShoreGroup’s achievements truly remarkable. Our sales, project management and engineering teams worked diligently with the clients’ IT teams and contractors to guarantee seamless and timely network activations. In addition to making relocations as smooth as possible for our clients, we’re also helping them use the event as an opportunity to implement the latest network, collaboration and managed service solutions to promote their future success after the move.”
