Business Services Provider KPA Receives Award from Automotive Training Managers Council
Lafayette, CO (PRWEB) November 06, 2014 -- KPA, a business services provider, has been presented with a 2014 National Excellence in Training Award by the Automotive Training Managers Council (ATMC). The award was presented on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the ATMC reception during the 2014 AAPEX and SEMA Shows in Las Vegas.
The ATMC National Excellence in Training Awards are given annually to recognize companies for highly effective and innovative training programs that drive the overall success of the transportation industry. Selected from numerous submissions, these companies’ programs are honored for their ability to meet the education needs of industry professionals through exceptional application of development, delivery and assessment training principles.
KPA received the award for its Hazard Communication course which helps dealerships and service facilities comply with employee training requirements mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazard Communication Standard. The updated Standard aligns U.S. regulations with the United Nation’s Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). The GHS calls for standardization of chemical labeling and formatting of Safety Data Sheets to make it easier for employees to understand the risks associated with chemicals at their facility.
KPA’s Hazard Communication course educates learners on to how properly use written programs, chemical inventories, safety data sheets and container labeling to reduce the risk of workplace accidents and injuries. The training uses specific hazardous situations common to dealerships and service facilities and requires employees to process the cause and effect of their actions.
“Hazard Communication violations consistently rank as one of the most common OSHA citations issued to companies,” said Eric Schmitz, Vice President of EHS Product for KPA. “The updated Hazard Communication Standard requires employees receive training, however our goal is not only to help our clients comply with regulations, but also to ensure they provide safe working environments for their employees. Developing a culture of safety allows employees to work with peace of mind while the company as a whole saves money through lowering workers’ compensation claims. Ensuring that our clients’ employees are properly trained is essential to this goal, so we’re very pleased to have our efforts recognized by the ATMC.”
The Hazard Communication course is just one of a suite of courses developed by KPA in the areas of Environmental, Health and Safety; HR Management and Customer Information Security. Over 500,000 employees at dealerships and service facilities are trained annually using KPA courses.
