Car Wash for Veterans and Military Personnel on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at the Frederick Shell Carwash
Frederick, MD (PRWEB) November 07, 2014 -- Frederick Shell Carwash, along with thousands of other car wash locations across the nation, will provide car washes to veterans and current military service personnel, under the Grace For Vets Free Wash Program. Washes will be given away rain or shine. The car washes are given to honor and recognize those that have served, and are currently serving in the armed forces. With the help of car washes across the country who participate, more and more military servicemen and women are recognized each year through this program.
“This day is not about the car wash operators who are providing the washes, it’s about honoring and recognizing those veterans who have served and the active military who are serving and protecting our country,” says owner Joe Parsley, “It’s an exciting and emotional day for everyone. Our management team and employees look forward to giving back to those that have given so much.”
In addition to giving away car washes, Local Radio station, WFMD 930 AM will be broadcasting live on site from 3 to 6 PM and FSC will donate all wash proceeds collected during that time to Fort Detrick Alliance's STEM Educational Program. The Fort Detrick Alliance is a non-profit organization devoted to building relationships between Fort Detrick and constituencies in the tri-county region. The Fort Detrick Alliance advocates for developing and expanding the important work done at Fort Detrick in the areas of cancer research, biological research, vaccine development, medical protection of the nation’s Armed Forces, and global communications. The Fort Detrick Alliance organizes and partners for educational and workforce development programs, community outreach initiatives, and networking events that introduce the organizations at Fort Detrick to the regional community. As Fort Detrick Alliance moves into the future, it will continue to take the Fort Detrick message to the region and to spearhead important activities that bring Fort Detrick and the surrounding community together in mutual understanding, respect, and accomplishment. Gloria Parsley, Executive Director of the nonprofit Fort Detrick Alliance will be onsite to recruit support of their STEM educational programs and community outreach initiatives.
Some members of the community have already stepped forward in support of this event and have donated quilts and blankets to be raffled off during the event with proceeds of the raffle also going to the STEM Educational Program.
Supporters and Board Members of 22 Needs A Face will be on site sharing information and trying to raise more support for their organization. 22 Needs A Face is a non-profit organization that exists to combat the number of service member suicides taking place within our nation. Every day 22 service members succumb to PTSD and seek to end the pain by taking their own lives. This must change. They seek to restore camaraderie of our veterans, educate the masses as to the fact that PTSD is a mental disease that requires help and treatment and work to enact legislation that will keep those who suffer from PTSD from being denied opportunities for careers or promotion. “Societatem, Educare, Edicere”
