Starbucks, HBO and Chase Recognize Fisher House Foundation While Saluting U.S. Veterans and Their Families This Veterans Day
ROCKVILLE, MD (PRWEB) November 07, 2014 -- Fisher House Foundation has been recognized by Starbucks, HBO and Chase, co-sponsors of The Concert for Valor, for outstanding service and support of veterans and their families.
The Concert for Valor, a first-of-its-kind concert to honor the courage and sacrifice of America’s veterans and their families on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to be presented live on HBO this Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11 (7:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. PT).
As part of the event, Fisher House Foundation will be one of 16 veteran service organizations (VSOs) highlighted for outstanding service and support of veterans and their families.
“This is an honor for the Foundation and I want to sincerely thank Starbucks, HBO and Chase,” said Ken Fisher, CEO and Chairman of the Fisher House Foundation. “I think one of the most important things this concert does is to show our military and veterans that Americans do care – and they are not just giving it lip service. That’s what we need to take home from this wonderful event. People are thankful for our military’s sacrifices and they want to show it.”
The VSOs were selected by an advisory committee led by Co-Chairs Admiral Mike Mullen and Secretary Robert Gates and comprised of thought leaders and supporters of VSOs. The committee identified outstanding VSOs that address one of the following core pillars of successful transition for veterans and their families: employment, education, health and wellness, and reintegration. Additional committee members include executives at Starbucks, HBO, JP Morgan Chase, and the Schultz Family Foundation.
“For nearly 25 years the Fisher House Foundation has supported our military, veterans and their families,” said Fisher. “Just last week I received an email from an injured soldier’s mom. She wrote, ‘Words can’t begin to express our gratitude. I see a Fisher House as a peaceful refuge in the middle of a storm.’ This is why we are here, and we are honored for the recognition from such an esteemed committee.”
As co-sponsors of the event, Starbucks, HBO and Chase provide a national stage for ensuring that veterans and their families know that their fellow Americans’ gratitude is genuine. The concert will feature a broad array of talent from the worlds of music and entertainment, including Eminem, Jamie Foxx, Dave Grohl, Metallica, John Oliver, Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen, Carrie Underwood and Zac Brown Band, as well as special appearances by Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, among many others.
