Growing the Warrior 'Stache - ManKind Project Men Grow the Mo for Movember to Support Men's Health
(PRWEB) November 13, 2014 -- MOVEMBER [movember.com] is an international campaign to raise awareness and fund research about prostate and testicular cancer. While the ManKind Project (MKP) is not affiliated with Movember, the organization supports efforts to raise awareness about men's health, and many MKP men (often referred to as New Warriors) participate. Some of 2014's participants have created a Facebook group called "Warrior 'Stache" as a meeting place to "talk 'stache" in a good natured competition.
The ManKind Project invites their membership and their men's groups to participate in MOVEMBER events, and to donate to causes that support men's health. The group in recent years has also partnered with the Men's Health Network, a Washington DC based
Tony Wilkinson, Executive Director for the International organization says, "I enjoy being a part of this effort. My moustache generates lots of laughs, and some great conversations. The ManKind Project is in the business of men's transformation, and transforming our relationship to our bodies is core to what we practice. Here in the UK, this is a great opportunity to open a dialogue about all aspects of men's well-being ... physical, emotional, psychic ... and even spiritual."
"I think it's hard for many men to get honest about their health, and especially to talk about it openly," says Boysen Hodgson, the Communications Director for the United States region, "Movember puts it right out there ... this is part of a conversation that we need to have. Our position at the ManKind Project is that it's time to stop going it alone. Having support is a matter of life and death. Don't let fear or denial or stubbornness kill you. Listen up ... your family, community, and the world ... we need you."
The ManKind Project runs personal growth trainings and hosts a network of peer-facilitated men's groups where men from many backgrounds mentor each other for personal growth and goal achievement in all areas of their lives. This nonprofit organization, which began in the United States, is now in well established in nine regions around the world, and is growing in several others.
