Neil Kelly and Seneca Sawmill Co. to Build Eugene Home for Veterans’ Housing Project
Eugene, Oregon (PRWEB) November 07, 2014 -- Seneca Sawmill Company and Neil Kelly Design-Build Remodeling announced today that they will break ground November 11th at 9:00 am on a new donated home for the Veterans’ Housing Project (VHP) of Lane County. Seneca is making the building of the 7th VHP home possible as the lead sponsor; Neil Kelly will provide design and construction, along with many local contributors.
The Veterans’ Housing Project is a consortium of individuals, businesses, governmental agencies, non-profits, service clubs and others who work together to provide affordable rental housing for veterans and their families transitioning back into civilian life.
The property is located at 1340 Jefferson St. The home is designed to blend in with the existing neighborhood and will contain 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The home also includes a small patio, and a detached garage at the back of the lot.
“For a returning veteran, a home is a minimum requirement in a sometimes difficult transition,” said Matt White, general manager of Neil Kelly’s Eugene office and design center. “Not having to worry about housing can help our veterans focus on reintegration rather than external concerns. This is the least we can do to make that transition a bit easier.”
“When our troops abroad put their lives at risk on our behalf, we want to show our gratitude,” said Todd Payne, VP-GM Seneca Sawmill Company. “Providing a home through the Veterans’ Housing Project is just one way we can demonstrate our appreciation and lighten their load when they come back. We are looking forward to this project.”
