Open Air Dynamics Opens Own Facility for Building Standup Paddleboards with Patented Technology
Reno, Nevada (PRWEB) November 11, 2014 -- Open Air Dynamics has announced the creation of their own facility for producing standup paddleboards featuring the patented technology, thermoSUP™.
A hybrid construction, thermoSUP™ is a process of using thermoformed ABS sheets and composite materials to build highly durable, maintenance free and abrasion resistant boards. Along with the new honetechCORE™, a semi-hollow, molded foam core, Open Air Dynamics believes the method will direct the future of standup paddleboard manufacturing.
thermoSUP™ construction offers superior impact strength in comparison to a traditional fiberglass composite board. The cleaner, eco-friendly process has also greatly reduced the amount of consumables in production, recycles the ABS off cuts and creates a longer lasting board. The Tahoe SUP brand will feature two models offering this new construction early in 2015, the Rubicon and the PaddleCraft.
Aside from the durability and a more sustainable process, Open Air Dynamics founder, Nate Brouwer, points out the ability for real time, same day production that eliminates lengthy production schedules.
“Looking at the challenges we and other brands have faced in the past, from meeting the demands of the rapid growth of the industry to dealing with shipping large fragile items around the world, thermoSUP™ is a game changer for us,” said Brouwer. “It’s amazing to watch materials come in to the facility and boards go out on the same day. The ability to now control our production, forecast inventory and stock our third party logistics warehouses across the U.S. is a big bonus for our dealers.”
With ownership of this process and the equipment, Brouwer points out the portability of the facility being yet another big motivation for all the hard work it took to develop thermoSUP™ over the last 3 years.
“Our work is far from finished. It’s very important to us here at Open Air Dynamics to continue down the path of bringing production back onshore. We understand the value the consumer would place in knowing that Tahoe SUP boards, for example, were made in the U.S.A.”
Open Air Dynamics™ was formed by Tahoe SUP™ founder and owner, Nate Brouwer, as a parent company to fulfill a desire to broaden product offerings and make SUP available to more people by developing new brands. The team at Open Air Dynamics™ aim to continue to innovate the standup paddle industry and outdoor sports market with exciting new products and customer service levels that are second to none. Open Air Dynamics™ brands offering includes Tahoe SUP™, Odyssey Sup™ and EXPLORE Project™.
