Berea, OH (PRWEB) November 09, 2014 -- This October, Inedo made a major update to ProGet, the introduction of npm registries.
ProGet is the leading enterprise NuGet repository, and a significant percentage of its users develop with Node.js. Those users voiced a need for ProGet to allow them to host their own packages, rather than relying on the Node.js registry.
“ProGet occupies kind of a unique space here at Inedo,” offers Alex Papadimoulis, Inedo’s founder and CEO, “Its development has been very much community driven. This is in part because we offer it for free, and in part because we genuinely believe in the concepts of both NuGet and npm.
“These systems are helping to change the way software is created, and frankly, we are excited to be a part of it.”
ProGet npm allows its users to:
- Publish, remove, and search for packages from the npm client
- Easily review the metadata of npm packages hosted by ProGet
- Make use of remote npm registries with the same caching and proxy functionality as when using the Node.js repository
- One location that combines access to multiple npm registries, which allows the npm client to consume them all
This is just a brief summary, visit the ProGet npm page for a more in depth outline of its functionality.
