Bay Area Discovery Museum Welcomes Newest Marketing Director; Appoints New CFO
Sausalito, CA (PRWEB) November 07, 2014 -- The Bay Area Discovery Museum is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Martinez as its newest Chief Financial Officer. Joining her is Kirt Zimmer, recently welcomed as Director of Marketing & Business Development. Both Zimmer and Martinez bring a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to their respective positions, to help further the Museum’s mission to ignite and advance creative thinking for all children.
As the CFO, Martinez will ensure that the administrative services operate at the highest efficiency in order to support the overall mission and goals of the Museum. She will be working closely with the other members of the Senior Leadership Team and with the Executive, Finance and Audit Committees of the Board of Trustees to oversee a comprehensive and effective system of financial management/reporting.
“I am thrilled to have joined the Bay Area Discovery Museum and the Center for Childhood Creativity at such a pivotal time of growth,” said Martinez “It is an incredible opportunity for me to utilize my love of the arts and non-profit management experience and skills in order to further our mission to ignite and advance creative thinking for all children. As a parent of a young child, I find the work and research we are doing around early childhood education and creativity particularly relevant and important.”
Zimmer is responsible for marketing strategy, branding, communication and development of new revenue opportunities for both the Museum and its Center for Childhood Creativity.
“We are helping parents and educators, literally wiring young minds for a lifetime of creative problem solving,” said Zimmer. “Innovation is so important in today’s economy, and I’m thrilled to be involved in this important mission.”
Zimmer brings to the Museum broad experience in public relations, sales, marketing and communication. Most recently, he led a digital marketing team in San Francisco for a global cultural exchange corporation. He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo.
About the Bay Area Discovery Museum
Creative thinking begins early in every child’s life. It enables original thought and the ability to see solutions where others don’t. It unlocks possibilities and fosters innovation. It provides the fundamental building blocks for success in school and beyond.
The Bay Area Discovery Museum is designed to ignite creative thinking in children. The 7.5 acres of natural beauty inspires families to engage in a world of possibilities. Framed by the majestic backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge, the museum is a space for imaginations to run wild. Every curated detail of our exhibits brings creative thinking to life for all stages of childhood. Navigate winding tunnels to develop physical and intellectual risk-taking skills. Feel the rush of cold-water tide pools that surprise and awaken curiosity. Imagine new worlds by transforming into a spider, a ship captain, or a bridge builder. At every turn is a new opportunity to challenge the boundaries of creativity.
Now we are taking these experiences beyond our physical location. We launched the Center for Childhood Creativity in 2011 to pioneer new research, thought-leadership, and teacher training programs that advance creative thinking in all children—extending our impact beyond the Museum.
Our mission: To ignite and advance creative thinking for all children.
