HERS Breast Cancer Foundation Accepting Nominations for People with Purpose Awards
Fremont, California (PRWEB) November 11, 2014 -- HERS Breast Cancer Foundation today announced that they are accepting nominations for their annual awards event, People with Purpose. The luncheon fundraiser will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2015. The People With Purpose Awards honor individuals and organizations from the Bay Area—local nonprofits, business leaders, medical experts, and activists—whose contributions have supported breast cancer survivors and the foundation’s efforts to serve them.
The luncheon will feature a keynote speech by novelist Meg Waite Clayton, author of The Four Ms. Bradwells, The Wednesday Sisters, and The Language of Light. The funds raised at this event will go toward HERS Breast Cancer Foundation programs, including We Support, YOU Survive, which serves low-income women. For event details, see http://herspeoplewithpurpose.org/
HERS Breast Cancer Foundation is reaching out to the Bay Area community to solicit nominations for the four HERS awards. The Hope, Empowerment, Renewal, and Support awards are given to honorees whose work on behalf of breast cancer survivors best reflects the essence of each category.
The award category descriptions are as follows:
HOPE—An individual or organization from the medical sector who has brought hope to survivors.
EMPOWERMENT—An individual or organization from the medical or nonprofit sector that has empowered breast cancer survivors to keep going.
RENEWAL—An individual or organization from the nonprofit or private sector that has improved and renewed the lives of breast cancer survivors.
SUPPORT—An individual or organization from any sector that has supported the mission of the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation.
To nominate a candidate for consideration, please submit the form at http://herspeoplewithpurpose.org/honorees/honoree-nomination/. The selected honorees must be available to receive their award in person at the luncheon on April 23, 2015. They will be asked to speak for a few minutes upon receiving the award, and to purchase a table at the event in support of HBCF’s fundraising efforts.
The nomination deadline is January 1, 2015; a committee will review the nominations and select the four honorees by January 15. Tickets for the event will also be available on this site in January 2015.
