I want to give you a mini lesson today on some bluesy licks, I want to show you something different today, arpeggios

“I want to give you a mini lesson today on some bluesy licks,” says Johnson, “I want to show you something different today, arpeggios.” Claude demonstrates some easy arpeggio licks from his course Arpeggio Cook Book available at GuitarControl.com. Claude starts off with minor arpeggios based on the first three strings in the root position and in the two inversions. The root position is as follows; 5th fret of the 2nd string with first finger to the 5th fret of the first string with first finger to the 8th fret with 4th finger. The first inversion; 10th fret of the 2nd string with 2nd finger to the 8th fret of the first string with first finger to the 12th fret with 4th finger and the second inversion is; 13th fret of the 2nd string with 2nd finger to the 12th fret of the first string with first finger to the 15th fret with 4th finger. Claude continues by demonstrating licks that combine these shapes with the major and the pentatonic scales. Guitar TAB’s are available for this easy lead guitar lesson at GuitarControl.com.

An arpeggio is when the notes of a chord are played separately in a sequence. The word comes from the Italian word apeggiare which means “to play on a harp”.

The major scale, aka the Ionian Mode, is a seven tone diatonic scale that is widely used in western music. The eighth duplicates the first at double its frequency so that it is called a higher octave of the same note, which its name is derived from Latin "octavus", the eighth.

A Pentatonic Scale is a musical scale with five notes per octave and is very common and found all over the world.
