Xelios Biometrics and MedicAlert Foundation Bring Lifesaving Fingerprint Scanning Technology to Cities and Communities to Assist First Responders
(PRWEB) November 13, 2014 -- Xelios Biometrics and MedicAlert Foundation are bringing their myLife-Touch program to communities in an effort to improve emergency response outcomes and reduce medical errors. In the event of an emergency, patients may not be able to communicate their health condition, medications, or life-threatening allergies to first responders. To ensure first responders have immediate access to critical health information, the myLife-Touch program will provide free devices to local EMS vehicles that will link an individual’s fingerprint to secure health information. This will allow first responders to provide more informed treatment and care while in transit and at the hospital or admitting facility.
The My Life-Touch program provides fingerprint scanners free to first responders, allowing them to have immediate access to an individual’s health information in an emergency. With the quick scan of the fingerprint, first responders will know medical conditions, medications/dosages, allergies, as well as emergency contacts and other vital information that individuals have securely stored with MedicAlert. The My Life-Touch program is powered through MedicAlert Foundation in full compliance with HIPAA and other state and federal standards to protect each participant’s privacy.
“We believe this program will become a powerful tool to save lives and speed up recovery time" says Jason Chaikin of Xelios Biometrics. "We are enabling first responders to better attend to their patients in a quick, efficient manner; and expect this will even lead to reduced hospitalization times."
The Life Touch program will be launched nationally, city by city starting in January of 2015 with free community sign-up events throughout the month.
