JoTo CEO to Speak on Panel for Future PR Professionals at USF’s PRSSA Chapter Meeting
(PRWEB) November 13, 2014 -- Karla Jo Helms, President and CEO of JoTo PR, will be a panelist at the University of South Florida’s Public Relations Students Society of America (PRSSA) meeting on Wednesday, November 19 at 5:00 p.m. USF’s chapter of PRSSA is holding a “Journalism & PR Pro Panel” with both Helms and Tampa Bay Business Journal Editor-in-Chief Alexis Muellner.
The general body meeting for USF PRSSA members will include talking points from the experienced panelists, including:
• The most effective way to pitch journalist media;
• Typical interactions between journalism and PR professionals;
• The evolution of PR and journalism;
• Recommendations for aspiring communications professionals.
Helms and Muellner have worked together before – Helms regularly brings business stories to the attention of the Business Journal editor. The panelists follow on the heels of other notable USF PRSSA speakers, including Busch Gardens PR and Media Relations leader Travis Claytor and Tampa Bay Lightning Director of PR Brian Breseman.
Helms also maintains ties to the public relations students and community in the Tampa Bay area, especially that of the communications college at USF. “I love connecting with and fostering PRs. One of our former interns, Sarah Avery, is the president of the USF PRSSA, so when she contacted me about being a panelist, I thought it was the perfect opportunity.”
