Miami Bayside Foundation’s We Are Miami Event Celebrates Miami’s Entrepreneurial Spirit
Miami, FL (PRWEB) November 13, 2014 -- The Miami Bayside Foundation hosted its annual We Are Miami fundraiser at the historic Freedom Tower located in the heart of Downtown Miami. Close to 200 attended the event including community, government and educational leaders. The evening was a celebration of small businesses and the entrepreneurial spirit that has been a catalyst for Miami’s growth and of the educational opportunities provided to minority students in the City of Miami through the Foundation’s scholarships and educational program. Among those in attendance were eighteen small business owners who had received loans from the Foundation and numerous scholarship recipients. Some of the local small businesses represented at the event were Spinex Medical, Cami-Axle Construction Group, Miami Smokers, Little Executives Day Care, and Panther Coffee Roasters. The Miami Bayside Foundation aims to advance the City of Miami through supporting small businesses and education. The funds raised at the event will be allocated to provide additional loans to small businesses and scholarship opportunities for City of Miami students in 2015.
The Miami Bayside Foundation, a City of Miami-based nonprofit established in 1986, operates two loan program that benefit City of Miami minority businesses, funds scholarship endowments and gifts programs for City of Miami, and provides technical assistance to minority businesses in the City of Miami. The Foundation has awarded 406 scholarships to City of Miami minority students attending post-secondary institutions; it awarded 33 loans totaling more than $1.2 million and creating more than 150 jobs in the City of Miami; and formed partnerships that have mentored or trained more than 120 City of Miami minority business owners.
