CrownPeak Technology, provider of the enterprise’s only open cloud platform for Web Experience Management, has announced that chief technology officer Adrian Newby is presenting today at AWS re:Invent 2014. The session, entitled “Building a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS)-Resilient Architecture with Amazon Web Services”, is part of the Security track (SEC307) on Thursday, November 13 at 5:30 p.m. in Palazzo M, Level 5 at the Venetian.
Newby is presenting with Andrew Kiggins, software development manager at AWS. In this session they are discussing a variety of techniques using AWS and security solutions from AWS Marketplace to build services that are more resilient in the face of DDoS attacks. The co-presenters are sharing battle-tested mitigation techniques such as virtual private cloud isolation, security groups in Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), and separation of management and data planes in Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) that can be used either separately or in combination to help improve DDoS resiliency. Anti-DDoS features available in AWS that help protect cloud service availability include Amazon Route 53’s Anycast Routing, Auto Scaling for EC2 and CloudWatch’s alarms.
CrownPeak is being showcased as an AWS customer case study with real-world battlefield experience defending against DDOS threats and helping one of its customers combat an actual attack. AWS is the infrastructure platform for CrownPeak’s cloud content management system.
Adrian Newby has 30 years of practical experience delivering advanced technology-enabled business solutions in both the U.S. and European markets. As CrownPeak CTO, Newby is responsible for the technical evolution of the company’s product and service portfolio, as well as representing and evangelizing the CrownPeak platform and technology externally. He recently contributed to the book “Business Process Management for Technology Professionals: Leading IT Executives on Creating Strategic, Efficient, and Flexible Frameworks”, part of the Inside the Minds series published by Thomson Reuters.
