New York, NY (PRWEB) November 13, 2014 -- Fresh off the heels of her massively popular pop debut album, Taylor Swift has announced her next tour. “The 1989 World Tour” will take Swift to countries around the world to promote her fifth studio album, 1989. The album sold more than 1.287 million copies in its opening week, making it the third best-selling album of all time, trailing only releases from Eminem and Britney Spears. The native of Reading, PA made a name for herself in the country music industry, but will now look to do the same in the pop genre. The tour, which will be her fourth as a headliner, will kick off in Bossier City, LA at the CenturyLink Center on May 20, 2015 and will run through Halloween night when she plays in Tampa, FL at Raymond James Stadium.
Previously, Swift has ventured out on a worldwide trek three other times, first in 2009 on the “Fearless Tour,” which saw her make more than 100 stops, then again in 2011 with another trek featuring more than 100 shows on the “Speak Now World Tour,” and then again in 2012 with “The Red Tour,” which included more than 80 stops. “The 1989 World Tour” hasn’t had every date announced as of yet, but excitement is building around those dates that have already been announced.
Included in the schedule of shows in 2015 are dozens of stops in venues that Swift has played sold out shows at before. Many of these venues have welcomed Swift with open arms for each of her tours and will look to see the singer and songwriter wow locals once again. Among the stops that Swift has announced she will be making on “The 1989 World Tour” include the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA, Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, PA, Soldier Field in Chicago, IL, Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Holland, PETCO Park in San Diego, CA, and Scottrade Center in St. Louis, MO.
When Swift hits the road for this worldwide tour next May, fans will hope to hear her perform many of her greatest hits as a country artist, as well as her newer material as a pop superstar. Many of the songs that fans will hope to hear have been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America including “You Belong With Me,” “Mine,” “Mean,” “Back to December,” “We Are Never Getting Back Together,” “Teardrop on My Guitar,” and her latest hit, “Shake it Off.”
