Announcement: GuitarControl.com Releases “Cool Lead Guitar Lesson on Minor and Major Pentatonic Scales”
(PRWEB) November 13, 2014 -- Claude starts off this easy lead guitar lesson in the key of A minor by explaining that if you play the scale pattern you use for A minor and play it down three frets it becomes A major pentatonic. Johnson continues by adding in some passing tones to each pattern so you can hear the difference it makes between major and minor. One of the passing tones Claude adds is the sixth tone of the major scale which he says gives it a minor sound in the minor pentatonic scale and a Lydian sound in the major pentatonic scale. Guitar TAB’s are available for this easy lead guitar lesson at GuitarControl.com.
A Pentatonic Scale is a musical scale with five notes per octave and is very common and found all over the world.
The major scale, aka the Ionian Mode, is a seven tone diatonic scale that is widely used in western music. The eighth duplicates the first at double its frequency so that it is called a higher octave of the same note, which its name is derived from Latin "octavus", the eighth.
The Lydian Mode is composed by playing the major scale and sharpening the fourth note by one half step. The name Lydian comes from the Greek referring to the ancient kingdom of Lydia in Anatolia. Since Lydian is made up from the major scale with a raised 4th, it can be played over major and major 7th chords and is compatible with many major chord progressions and keys.
