Blueprint’s new release improves IT project delivery through increased collaboration, reductions in rework and support for advanced re-use
Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) November 17, 2014 -- Organizations continue to struggle with on-time, on-budget delivery of enterprise IT projects. PMI’s 2014 annual global Pulse of the Profession® study revealed that “inaccurate requirements gathering” remained a primary cause of project failure (37 percent) in 2014 (up from 32 percent in 2013). “Blueprint is dedicated to helping organizations alleviate this pain and our new release extends Blueprint’s lead in and enhances IT project success through requirements definition and management innovation,” said Brian Hartlen, Chief Marketing Officer, Blueprint. “Our customers deal with very large and complex IT projects and are facing unprecedented pressures for faster delivery. With a backdrop of changing methodologies often including the adoption of Enterprise Agile, organizations are increasingly looking for technology and processes to improve collaboration and efficiency for all team members and stakeholders right at the beginning of their projects.”
Blueprint 6.0 allows users to:
Enhance communication for improved IT project success
Organizations increasingly want to involve more people in project and requirements definition. When Finance, auditors, partners, customers and other interested parties take an active role in requirements management – the development process is improved. Having all stakeholders participate in requirements discussions, provide input, validate assumptions, or answer questions facilitates greater inclusion, more meaningful conversation, and a breaking down of traditional collaboration barriers. Blueprint 6.0 allows stakeholders to participate using email, which allows for easier and broader adoption and the elimination of a learning curve. Unlike stand-alone email solutions, all conversations are recorded and completely auditable and can be tied back to the specific artifacts within the project.
Strategically reuse requirements
Blueprint 6.0 dramatically improves an organization’s ability to enforce standards and policies, as well as gain efficiencies and quality improvements through reuse of requirements. With this feature any type of requirement can be reused within or across projects, or from reuse libraries. Features that allow policies governing the update of reused requirements can be set and enforced, and sensitivity profiles can be established to meet the specific and demanding needs of the market.
Create and work with groups of requirements
Collections, a group of specifications, provide a light-weight mechanism for users to deal with sets of requirements as a single group, for the purpose of actions like bulk-update, creating baselines, generating documents, informal reviews, and more.
Integrate with Excel
There are many processes in Requirements Management that still exist in traditional Office tools. Blueprint 6.0 delivers a complete Excel import facility to take data stored in Excel and incorporate it into a robust enterprise requirements solution. Blueprint facilitates the addition of traceability, approval status and other needed attributes to Excel based data.
Integrate with HP ALM 12
Blueprint 6.0 greatly expands its integration with HP ALM to include selective bi-directional synchronization of data between the two products. This means, for example, that new requirements added in Blueprint will automatically appear in HP ALM, and that new requirements, changes, or status updates made in HP ALM will automatically be reflected back in Blueprint. The integration is highly configurable so it may be adapted to support any software development process.
“Blueprint did it again by evolving v6.0 in ways we needed without even realizing it”, said Kathleen O’Brien, Merck. “They continually manage to be in the minds of BAs as they enhance their amazing tool. We cannot wait to try the new Excel Update feature to support editing of requirements by stakeholders that are not Blueprint users.”
These new capabilities expand the ways in which users can interact with requirements and encourage all stakeholders to participate in the requirements process, in ways that are familiar and immediately accessible.
Blueprint 6.0 is imminently available. For a complete listing of the new features or additional information contact Blueprint at 1-866-979-2583 (BLUE) or info(at)blueprintsys(dot)com.
