PowaTag aims to make holiday sales dash a thing of the past with instant mobile sales
New York (PRWEB) November 27, 2014 -- Shoppers should no longer need to set out at dawn to beat the crowds or risk missing Thanksgiving lunch to grab the best holiday sales with the dawn of instant mobile sales says innovative commerce specialist Powa Technologies.
Crowds of jostling shoppers have become a familiar sight each year, while more retailers than ever are starting their sales events on Thanksgiving itself to get a head start on the vital holiday season. However, more and more consumers are now shunning the bricks-and-mortar event to get their fill online. This Black Friday online sales are predicted to reach $2.48 billion, while Cyber Monday sales are set to increase by 15% to $2.6 billion.
The latest IBM Digital Analytics Benchmark research has also found that that retailers and consumers alike are no longer willing to wait for the Black Friday event, with Saturday 22nd – Sunday 23rd November seeing online sales up over 18% compared to 2013. Mobile traffic also saw a sharp increase, accounting for 26.6% of all online sales, up 23.9% year-on-year.
Dan Wagner, eCommerce veteran and CEO of Powa Technologies, comments: “The huge surge in online and mobile sales predicted for this week, as well as the early spike over the weekend, demonstrate that consumers are now more in control of how and when they spend than ever.”
Mobile commerce will be the hallmark of this year’s festive shopping seasons, with a reported 31% of online sales this Friday expected to be completed via mobile devices. Shopping habits are changing dramatically with consumers increasingly forgoing traditional retail channels for the flexibility, speed and convenience of mobile platforms. Retailers and brands need to be mobile commerce-ready in order to not only capture consumer attention, but also successfully translate it into sales.
“It’s clear that price cuts alone are not going to be sufficient to lure consumers into physical stores, and speed and convenience are now important factors for winning over sales. The frantic shopping rush that has become a hallmark of the season has no place in a time when shoppers can get the latest deals at any moment they choose, wherever they happen to be,” Dan continues.
PowaTag provides retailers the ultimate mobile engagement solution, giving shoppers the power to complete purchases using an array of in-store triggers, including scanning print material, Bluetooth beacons, audio tags, as well as online via web, email and social media. Consumers can buy a product right from any form of advertising with one touch on their smartphone. Sales are finalized in just seconds using pre-entered payment and address information.
The solution provides a simple and efficient way to connect with the mobile shopper while avoiding large-scale projects that typically involve multiple vendors, IT integration, developers and hardware platforms – and a heavy price tag, as seen by the $1bn recently invested by Macy’s into its strategy.
Dan adds: “Consumers today are seeking greater levels of control and freedom in how and when they purchase goods. Even short delays between impulse and sale can stop sales dead – something retailers can no longer afford. It’s little surprise that more and more shoppers are being put off by the idea of spending hours in the holiday crowds or giving up valuable family time in order to hunt for bargains. By empowering their customers to complete mobile purchases anytime and anywhere, retailers will ensure they come out on top of the new holiday sales landscape.”
