This season, OLP reminds homeowners to:
1. Check the packaging on your string lights. String lights have been used for outdoor décor for years, but not all are made for outdoor use and could cause safety issues if used incorrectly.
2. Don’t use nails while hanging lights. Nails should never be used in the holiday lighting installation process as they can cause structural damage to the home. Instead, use light clips that clip to the roofline or eaves of the home.
3. Only use ladders on dry days. Moisture on the ground and shoes can result in a slippery ladder that can cause falls. Make sure a partner is on hand to hold the ladder in place.
