Town of Ossining and Village of Ossining Agree on Terms for Police Services
Ossining, NY (PRWEB) November 14, 2014 -- The Town and Village of Ossining are proud to announce that after careful research, due diligence, and extensive negotiations, the Town of Ossining and the Village of Ossining have agreed on Agreement Terms for the Village of Ossining to provide police services to the Unincorporated Area of the Town for the term commencing January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2018.
The Town is currently completing a four-year contract for the provision of police services by the Westchester County Police. During the term of this Agreement, the County Police have been highly professional and attentive to the residents and commercial property owners of the Unincorporated Area and the Town wants to take this opportunity to thank each and every officer in the ranks of the Westchester County Public Safety for their commitment to the Unincorporated Area of the Town of Ossining.
For the period commencing January 1, 2015, the Town has determined to contract with the Village of Ossining for police services. This was certainly not an easy decision, but one that was arrived at after much deliberation and consideration. Cost of the contract was but one factor; among others considered were the professionalism of the Ossining Police Department, as well as the contiguity of OPD to the Unconsolidated Town area, and the already established relationship of the Ossining Police with the Ossining Union Free School District, its school facilities and students.
Following the opening of the response to the Town RFP for police services in July, The Town met with both respondents multiple times while they did their due diligence concerning the information provided in the RFP. The Town of Ossining determined to move ahead with negotiations with the Village of Ossining. The Town and Village administrations and its Board Liaisons, and the Village of Ossining Police Department have had a series of meetings and discussions to elaborate on the services to be provided and to answer questions and concerns raised. All parties had an opportunity to learn a great deal about the provision of police services, including the scheduling of officers and coverage that will be provided to the Town. The final Agreement covers in detail all of the expectations of the Town in relation to these services.
The Town and Village take this responsibility in furtherance of the health, safety and welfare of its residents extremely seriously, and look forward to working together for the success of this Agreement. In addition to providing police service to the Town, the Ossining Police will be in continuous contact with Town representatives to ensure good communication important to the success of this agreement, and will provide regular reports and opportunities for official and resident input.
