Idaho Governor Proclaims November 2014 “Idaho Chiropractic Health and Wellness Month”
Boise, Idaho (PRWEB) November 16, 2014 -- The Idaho Association of Chiropractic Physicians (IACP), a not-for-profit association comprised of individual, licensed chiropractors who work to promote the chiropractic industry, fully endorses the recognition that the State of Idaho is placing on the health care benefits of chiropractic in the face of growing challenges in the health care industry.
“We are extremely pleased that Governor Otter and the State of Idaho are taking this opportunity to shed light on current health care challenges, but more importantly that the cost-effective, conservative care provided by chiropractors is being showcased,” said Dr. Joseph Betz, IACP President. “Idaho has one of the highest rates of spine surgery in our nation, and chiropractors can show that a conservative-care-first approach could significantly reduce the number of surgical procedures needed, provide significant health care savings and get patients back to their active lives much sooner!”
Idaho’s proclamation specifically showcases a seven-year study that analyzed 70,274 member-months of patients being managed by doctors of chiropractic (DC). The report concluded that, in comparison to traditional medicine, chiropractic generates advantageous patient outcomes, including:
~ 85 percent reduction in drug costs;
~ 62 percent reduction in MRIs and surgeries;
~ 60.2 percent reduction of in-hospital admissions;
~ 59 percent reduction in hospital days.
“I am very proud of Idaho and its willingness to take the lead in educating the rest of the nation to the valuable health care resource that resides in its backyard…its chiropractors," Betz said. "Idaho chiropractic physicians are providing holistic, conservative care for musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, while also providing savings for the patient, state and the nation.”
