National University is among the Top Ten schools in the nation that offer Master’s in Public Health (MPH) programs online, according to an analysis by PublicHealthOnline.org, a public health education and career resource guide. National University’s program was ranked according to the group’s comprehensive scoring metrics, which include accreditation, placement services, and academic/career counseling services.
National University, which is the 2nd largest private nonprofit university in California, ranks at #8 among 50 schools for its MPH program. National University, which is the only San Diego County-headquartered school in the list, offers programs both online and at 28 campuses in California and Nevada. “Clearly our MPH curriculum of study is among the vanguard of schools that focus on health promotion and disease prevention as a means to reduce the cost of care by improving the health of the nation,” said Dr. Gloria J. McNeal, Dean of the National University School of Health and Human Services. “As health services delivery systems undergo rapid change, our program is well positioned to address the need, and to create an array of new career opportunities for professionals with advanced training in public health.”
National University is among a select group of universities that “not only meet the standard of excellence of traditional on-campus public health programs, but also provide students the flexibility to continue their higher education through the graduate level while working and building experience in their chosen field,” according to the formal announcement from PublicHealthOnline.org.
The Master of Public Health (MPH) at National University is offered through the School of Health and Human Services at several campus locations as well as online. It is a graduate professional degree designed to prepare students for leadership positions in health promotion and disease prevention, community mental health or public healthcare administration. Faculty members have expertise and experience in public health applied research and in higher education.
In addition, National University’s School of Health and Human Services launched about a year ago what is believed to be the only health analytics master’s degree program of its kind in the country, which is also available online. The Master of Science in Health and Life Science Analytics has been developed to meet a growing need to increase the number of experts who can analyze data to improve the overall efficiency of medical care and improve patient health.
