Topic of Gait Re-Education Through Hydrotherapy Methodologies Will Be Explored During HydroWorx Webinar
Middletown, PA (PRWEB) November 17, 2014 -- Children, teens and adults can all fall victim to problems with their gait due to a wide variety of causes, including sports injuries, stroke, neurological disorders, joint injuries, knee and hip replacements, broken legs, and spinal cord injuries. In order to re-train their bodies to function with a natural gait that does not put undue stress on one side of the body, many patients have been prescribed physical therapy sessions in an aquatic environment. In fact, hydrotherapy, especially when performed in a specialized therapy pool outfitted with an underwater treadmill and resistance jets, is increasing in popularity around the world thanks to the natural properties of water (e.g., buoyancy, hydrostatic advantages.)
To further explore this subject, a one-hour webinar discussion and educational session will be presented on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. EST. Conducted by therapy pool manufacturer HydroWorx, “The Use of Hydrotherapy for Gait Re-Education” will feature presenter Kerry Glendon, Clinical Specialist at Perform, Staffordshire, United Kingdom. Glendon, whose credentials include MSc BSc (Hons), mCSP, mMACP, mACPSEM and mAACP, will spend the session discussing the different ways physiotherapists, physical therapists and athletic trainers can use hydrotherapy to help their patients begin to mobilize correctly after suffering from a medical condition, accident or congenital defect.
Items that will be covered during “The Use of Hydrotherapy for Gait Re-Education” webinar include:
- How to identify the dysfunction of walking and running gait in a land-based environment.
- Which exercises hydrotherapy specialists are using at Perform for early gait re-education.
- How to use underwater cameras to provide immediate patient feedback.
Interested participants can attend the webinar for free, but prior registration is required to ensure a spot. RSVPs can be made online at http://ww2.hydroworx.com/webinar-gait.
