Do Something WonderFull: CaringBridge Launches Year-End Giving Campaign
Eagan, Minn. (PRWEB) November 18, 2014 -- Today, CaringBridge launched its annual year-end giving campaign to raise $1.2 million. Powered by the generosity of donors, the nonprofit connects people with their community of support when they need it most by offering free customizable websites. Donations made to CaringBridge help ensure that no one has to go through a health journey alone.
Nearly 95 percent of all funding comes from people who use CaringBridge. The WonderFull year-end giving campaign features match contributions from three generous donors.
The C.H. Robinson Foundation will kick off the campaign with a dollar-for-dollar match up to $15,000 in donations received on November 18 and 19.
"The C.H. Robinson Foundation is proud to support the CaringBridge mission to make each health journey easier as it impacts not only our employees, but the greater community during a time when they need it most," says Angie Freeman, President of the C.H. Robinson Foundation
On #GivingTuesday, the global day of giving (December 2), there will be a one-day-only match up to $10,000 from Minnesota-based Wealth Enhancement Group.
“We wanted to partner with an organization that not only has an impact in people’s lives, but also strives to help those when it matters most,” says Jeff Dekko, CEO of Wealth Enhancement Group
A third matching gift made by an anonymous friend of CaringBridge doubles donations received on December 16 and 17 up to $25,000.
“The first CaringBridge website I followed had such a profound effect on my life that I became a volunteer and advocate. I am humbled to be in the position to donate to CaringBridge and help ensure that nobody has to go through life’s most difficult journeys alone,” stated the Anonymous Donor
Every day half a million courageous individuals with powerful stories connect and care for each other through CaringBridge. That’s what the Steinback family did when their daughter Julia was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a childhood blood cancer. During her nearly three years of treatment, Julia and her family could count on one constant: the emotional and physical support they received from friends and relatives who followed Julia’s story on CaringBridge.
“I wanted to be able to get information to people and didn’t want to make 500 calls a day. It was really difficult to talk about out loud and so that first week we were already posting new journal updates twice a day. It felt incredible to have people all over the world checking in and sending us prayers, good thoughts, love and hugs,” said Julia’s mother, Joy Steinback.
“Using CaringBridge was the best decision I possibly could have made in our journey with cancer,” added Joy. “It was a way for me to put out my fears and frustrations.”
CaringBridge helped her family feel like they were not alone while simultaneously providing much needed space as those who cared were able to receive updates without the family feeling overwhelmed.
“The generosity of the CaringBridge community goes deeper than monetary contributions. The spirit in which people connect and care for each other through CaringBridge is what the WonderFull theme embodies,” said Sona Mehring, founder and CEO of CaringBridge.
Now in remission, Joy continues to stay connected with loved ones through CaringBridge as Julia undergoes monthly checkups. For the Steinbacks, seeing their daughter happy and healthy is the greatest gift they could ask for this holiday season.
“As a nonprofit, CaringBridge relies on donations to allow anyone facing a health journey the ability to connect with their support network,” said Mehring. “Thanks to donations, Julia’s family and millions of other individuals and families no longer endure these challenging journeys alone. Thanks to donors, they’re constantly surrounded by love.”
