School for Young Athletes Welcomes Canoe & Kayak Professional To Advisory Board
(PRWEB) November 18, 2014 -- US Performance Academy, a digital, independent, middle and high school for elite athletes, welcomes Joe Jacobi, former USA Canoe & Kayak CEO, to their advisory board.
Jacobi was America’s first ever Olympic Gold Medalist in Whitewater Canoe Slalom. His nineteen year career as an elite USA Canoe & Kayak athlete brings the athletic experience that US Performance Academy has been seeking for their board. With ten National Championship titles, two Olympic Games appearances, and an Olympic Gold Medal, Jacobi knows what it takes to compete at a high level.
“I lived the competitive training lifestyle and now I’m seeing it with my daughter as well.” says Jacobi. “Being a high performing athlete takes dedication, time, and support. As my daughter trains and competes, I see first-hand how important a flexible school schedule is for demanding sports. US Performance Academy has opened a door for student athletes to get a college-prep education with the flexibility they need in order to compete. I am happy to bring my experiences as an athlete to this advisory board and to help US Performance Academy serve these motivated students at a high level.”
US Performance Academy (USPA) was developed to support the unique lifestyle of young competitive athletes. With an individualized school schedule and full personalized support from USPA learning coaches and staff, student athletes gain an opportunity to learn and compete at a high level. USPA also provides a unique opportunity for students to work with other committed athletes around the country. With the challenge-based learning program and online platform, students interact, work together as a team, and learn from each other.
“We don’t have absences, missed tests, or overly-stressed students.” says USPA President, Peter Smith. “We have supportive staff, flexible program, and a passion for high performance sports so that when a student qualifies for a competition or tournament, we offer a ‘congratulations’ and an adjusted school schedule so that student can focus on their performance as opposed to adding stress due to missed days from school. Courses fit into student’s training schedule but are still rigorous and challenging so USPA graduates are prepared for college. We are pleased to welcome Joe Jacobi to our team. Joe’s record speaks for itself. His innovative approach combined with his unique perspective on what it takes to not only compete, but also to be successful on the international stage is inspiring. Joe will provide the entire USPA community with a wealth of experience that will serve our students very well.”
