Hernandez and Vidal, two working professionals and mothers, have completed their first book "Touchdowns, Tackles and Torture - Life of a Youth Football Mom": a gripping and potent look inside the sometimes dark and unforgiving life of pee-wee and youth sports. Their poignant novel is full of vibrant imagery and is an engrossing story that delves into the murky depths of football and the difficulties that are inherent in parenting young athletes. Any parent who has/had a child in any team sport at a young age will be able to easily relate to this engaging book.

On how they describe their book, authors Hernandez and Vidal said, "Our book is a narrative non-fiction. The message we wanted to send out is to finish what you start, be committed to reaching your goals, and stay strong and positive in the midst of adversity. The characters and events are true to life, some of these characters are shown in a better light than others."

Vidal and Hernandez are two struggling mothers facing the dilemma of their children being slightly overweight. The two built their friendship while their children participated in tackle football, as an answer to their weight problems. At nine years old, Stacey's son Paul already weighed 132 lbs; Julie's son, Jeremy, also weighed nearly as much as Paul. Both mothers empathize with each other as they witness their sons tackle the fight of weight loss and at the same time face the tortures that football brought. From strict diets to strenuous exercises, Vidal and Hernandez stayed strong for their children and became the foundation of change for both their families.
