Reach, part of the emerging Canadian technology company Big Rock Labs, is the first professional networking tool that works exclusively to help users discover and connect with professionals nearby, based on geo-location technology. Upon sign up, users’ profiles are established through LinkedIn’s open API that uploads their resume. They can then search for connections in their vicinity based on distance, venue, industry and job title. They can then notify others of their own location. Reach displays only those users who match the user’s selected criteria, allowing for quick browsing of profiles. Connections can then be made via phone, text or email, depending on the contact information shared by the user.
