NAPSRx Educational Partnership with over 300 Universities - Aims to Help Applicants with CNPR Career Certification and Pharmaceutical Sales Rep Job Opportunities
Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 20, 2014 -- A certificate program offered through an educational alliance between Cengage Learning and the NAPSRx (National Association of Pharmaceutical Sales Reps) will allow aspiring pharmaceutical sales applicants to obtain skills in the industry and improve their employment opportunities. The CNPR vocational training is an economically viable alternative for many job seekers or individuals looking to transition into pharmaceutical sales.
Vocational certificates like the CNPR Certification can significantly boost applicants placement rate as well as the earning power of those who obtain them. "It is vital and important to educate as well as certify pharmaceutical sales rep in this very technical industry. Training and expertise in an era when more and more pharmaceutical sales reps are turning to a clinical data-driven, informational physician decision support to provide care for their patients," said Brad Sullivan, Educational Coordinator for the CNPR Certification Pharmaceutical Sales Training program. “Pharmaceutical sales reps and the clinical information they deliver to physicians with specific drug efficacy details can optimize pharmacology results to patients."
In 1999, the NAPSRX took note that the demand for formal pharmaceutical sales rep training and certification for pharmaceutical sales reps was continually growing within the industry. Two years later, with support from many industry executives, the NAPSRx launched the CNPR Pharmaceutical Sales Certification to define the core content for entry level pharmaceutical sales education and the training requirements for proposed accreditation. In 2006, Cengage Learning/Gatlin Education agreed to sponsor the CNPR Pharmaceutical Sales program and examination at over 300 major universities in the United States. “The NAPSRx is honored to be working in collaboration with Cengage Learning to support their efforts to set standards of competency assessments for pharmaceutical sales reps,” said Brad Sullivan, Educational Coordinator at the NAPSRx. “These pharmaceutical sales training standards will not only be markers of professionalism for industry reps, but will also provide better qualify information to physicians with a way to measure the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver quality care.” says Sullivan.
The CNPR was also submitted in 2006 to the U..S..Patents and Trademarks office with a formal application to be considered for a new Federal Certification Mark. Once submitted, the CNPR proposal attracted support from many pharmaceutical sales rep executives. Subsequently, several pharmaceutical companies expressed interest in joining as formal co-sponsors.
The NAPSRx has developed many pharmaceutical sales industry examinations to support specialty rep assessment programs initially for CNS, diabetes, cardiovascular, rheumatology, dermatology, oncology and more. All of these specialty programs will complement the structured formative training that the NAPSRx and Cengage Learning has implemented for its Continuing Medical Education training system. The collaboration will enhance the system of assessment that ensures that physicians will receive quality details on pharmacology products from industry reps. “The CNPR program is designed to enhance the healthcare industry’s current efforts to meet its evolving health care demands. We are honored to partner many industry companies and education institutions to enhance the assessment of the competencies of pharmaceutical sales reps.”
The CNPR training and examination is administered online and can be taken at any time.
