The Kiski School Breaks Ground on a $8 Million Athletic Center
Saltsburg, PA (PRWEB) November 20, 2014 -- The Kiski indoor athletic facility will include 6,700 square feet of new construction with a new multi-purpose indoor training area for soccer, lacrosse, tennis, and baseball, as well as new weight and cardio training rooms and the total renovation of the existing basketball, wrestling, and swimming areas. The new Athletic Center will also house athletic department offices and meeting rooms and will feature major upgrades to locker and equipment rooms, storage areas, as well as a satellite bookstore and a concession stand. The total cost of the project is $8 million.
Headmaster Chris Brueningsen said, “The new Athletic Center will reflect our dedication to the high standards at Kiski. We believe the concepts of team work, sportsmanship, perseverance, and hard work toward a common goal, as learned through athletic competition, are invaluable lessons Kiski graduates carry with them for the rest of their lives. The Athletic Center is needed to further strengthen the educational experience at the School as all Kiski boys are required to participate in a sport during each season of the year. The expanded and renovated year-round indoor Athletic Center will enhance the opportunities for all of our students to become even more involved at the School and with our strong athletic programs.”
Many Kiski alumni, foundations and friends have donated to The Leadership for the 21st Century: Capital Campaign for Kiski including President of McCutcheon Enterprises, Inc. (MEI) Calvin S. McCutcheon. He said, “It is an honor and a privilege to support Kiski. Our sons spent countless hours at the pool during their time at Kiski and my wife and I made many morning and evening trips to drop off swimmers. Coupling this with the top-notch education our boys received, we'd like to show our gratitude to Kiski by funding the Natatorium renovation. As a family, the McCutcheons could not be more excited to support this great endeavor of The Kiski School."
Associate Headmaster for Institutional Advancement Steve Szilagyi said, “Our second phase of fundraising is focused on the Athletic Center and we are off to a strong start. We remain thankful to our generous trustees, alumni, parents, and friends of the School because their strategic investments in these projects have positioned our students and faculty to directly benefit from this exciting time of rejuvenation and growth at Kiski.”
The new indoor Kiski Athletic Center is expected to be complete by August 2015. The Kiski School, a premier all boys boarding and day school, located 30-miles east of Pittsburgh, celebrates 127 years of preparing young men from grades 9-12 and postgraduates to succeed in college and in life.
