The rooftop installation at 2605 Summerville Court is located on a self-storage facility and will generate clean, safe power in an urban-industrial area right where the power will be consumed. “Another successful project in partnership with Endura Energy gets us closer to achieving our mission overall, which is to speed Ontario’s transition towards a sustainable future, one where we have electricity that’s generated by sources that are non-polluting and safe”, explained Mike Brigham, President of SolarShare Co-op. SolarShare will be the ultimate long term owner and operator of the system.
This is the second project commissioned of a portfolio of 2.7 MW of projects developed in partnership between Endura Energy Developments Inc. and the SolarShare Co-op under the province’s feed-in-tariff (FIT) program whereby solar projects sell the power they generate under a fixed price 20 year contract. The portfolio, which comprises of five rooftop projects across the Greater Toronto Area, is expected to be fully commissioned by early 2015.
“It has been a great feeling to commission our second of five rooftop solar projects we were awarded under the FIT 2.1 program. We have worked with many of these landlords since 2009 and it is exciting for all parties involved to see the systems generating electricity” stated Cameron Steinman, President of Endura Energy Project Corp and Director of Endura Energy Developments Inc.
