Safepoint Insurance Launches Company Giving Program, Starting with Contribution to Step Up For Students Scholarship Program
Tampa, Fla. (PRWEB) November 19, 2014 -- Safepoint Insurance today announced a community giving program called Safepoint Gives Back, and is kicking off the program by contributing to the Step Up For Students Scholarship Program. Safepoint Insurance’s contribution will fund 18 scholarships for low-income Florida students.
Safepoint Insurance is based in Tampa, FL and specializes in residential property insurance products.
“Safepoint Insurance is excited to kick off our community giving program by supporting such a worthy cause,” said company CEO David Flitman. “As a Florida business, we are proud to know that our contribution is helping children in our own backyard. We know that the education these students receive will help propel them to achieve great things.”
This is the first year that Safepoint has partnered with the Step Up For Students Scholarship Program, which is providing approximately 70,000 scholarships to kindergarten-12th grade students statewide this year.
“We are grateful for our corporate partners who recognize the value of educational choice and who support our mission to ensure that all Florida students have access to the learning environments that suit their individual needs,” said Step Up For Students President Doug Tuthill. “We are thankful for Safepoint Insurance’s help, and for their commitment to the Florida community at large.”
In addition to funding scholarships, the Safepoint Gives Back program will focus on education for Florida students by providing internships for students to learn about the insurance industry and mentoring of actuarial students and by partnering with InVEST, a program sponsored by the Big I Independent Insurance Agents that provides insurance education to high school and college students. As part of the community giving program, Safepoint will also partner with the Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) to promote building stronger homes.
Step Up For Students helps administer the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program, which enables companies like Safepoint to redirect a portion of their Florida tax liabilities to fund scholarships.
Step Up For Students has provided nearly 400,000 scholarships to Florida students since the program’s inception in 2001. This school year, more than 7,000 students in the Tampa Bay area are attending the school of their choice with help from a Step Up scholarship.
