Last night, National Grid’s Rhode Island electric distribution business was recognized by PA Consulting Group, Inc. as the recipient of the 2014 ReliabilityOne™ Award for Outstanding Midsize Utility. This year PA Consulting Group expanded its ReliabilityOne™ program to recognize the very best Midsize investor owned utilities in the United States. To be eligible for this recognition, a utility must deliver a reliability performance ranked in the top 95th percentile.

“This honor is an affirmation of our commitment to build the utility of the future to meet our customers’ needs today and going forward,” said Timothy F. Horan, President of National Grid Rhode Island business. “We will continue to work tirelessly to provide our customers with the service they expect and deserve.”

All midsized utilities operating electric delivery networks in North America are eligible for consideration for the Outstanding Midsize Utility award. The selection of provisional recipients is based primarily on system reliability statistics that measure the frequency and duration of customer outages. After provisional recipients are selected, each company undergoes an on-site certification process which provides an independent review and confirmation of the policies, processes and systems used to collect, analyze and report a company's reliability results.

"Utilities are on the doorstep of a technological leap that will set new expectations for how companies handle reliability and, really, all aspects of their business,” said Jeff Lewis, PA Consulting Group’s ReliabilityOne™ Program Director. “National Grid in Rhode Island has shown a commitment to reliability that will serve as a cornerstone for its customers as new advances are adopted to further improve response and restoration times.”
