Many utilities have older systems that can benefit from new technologies that allow interfacing with smart field devices, easier construction of database and screen graphics, as well as integration with other utility software systems.

Johnson City Power Board (JCPB), Tennessee, upgraded to an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) from Survalent Technology.

Johnson City Power Board (JCPB) was faced with an aging system and needed current features and reputable support. By selecting a Survalent ADMS system, JCPB will experience ease of use and be able to replace external custom programs. Additionally they will receive better visualization of field devices and secure, view-only access for mobile devices.

The new system includes Survalent's highly-available, open-architecture system that allows utilities to create their own programs and databases. The system is based on Windows Server, and includes several of Survalent’s open-system applications, including:

  •     SmartVU
  •     STC Explorer
  •     Command Sequence
  •     Event Data Recording
  •     IED Wizard and Control Panel
  •     Remote Alarm Annunciation
  •     Master/Slave Alarm Suppression
  •     NDA API Interface
  •     SCADA Add-In
  •     System Configuration Status (SCS)
  •     Power Factor Control
  •     MultiSpeak Interfaces
  •     SCADA Replicator
  •     WebSurv
  •     SurvCentral for Mobile Devices
  •     Dynamic Voltage Reduction
  •     ICCP

“Many utilities have older systems that can benefit from new technologies that allow interfacing with smart field devices, easier construction of database and screen graphics, as well as integration with other utility software systems,” states Steve Strauss, VP of Sales for the Eastern US. “Survalent also offers advanced layers of functionality that can be added to traditional SCADA applications such as OMS & DMS.”
