Amica Insurance offers 3 tips to prepare for rapid thawing of snow

Amica and Ready.gov suggest the following tips to help manage the potential thawing of snow:
• Secure your home and move essential items to an upper floor.
• Turn off utilities at the main switches or valves if instructed to do so. Disconnect electrical appliances, and do not touch electrical equipment if you are wet or standing in water.
• If you have to leave your home, do not walk through moving water or drive into flooded areas.
