In the newly posted webisode, viewers learn how a creative mix of exterior products can turn a drab exterior into a dream cottage

CertainTeed announces the sixth installment of the 2013 Living Spaces® Facebook® Home Makeover Video Contest series. In this webisode, a unique combination of CertainTeed vinyl siding and accessories beautifully transform the exterior of the Bielfelt family’s Mentor, Ohio historic home. In the latest webisode, viewers learn step-by-step how exterior walls gain beauty and performance with the right mix of color, style and installation expertise.

CertainTeed 5-Star Green and SELECT ShingleMaster contractor, RJK Construction Co., of Willoughby, Ohio, installs durable Cedar Impressions® Polymer Shake Siding in various styles and hues to achieve the unique, rustic charm that the homeowner desired. Featuring a bold, authentic cedar grain texture, Cedar Impressions Double 7-inch Staggered Perfection Shingles in Heritage Cream and Spruce were utilized for a majority of the home’s front, with accents of Cedar Impressions 6 ¼-inch Half-Round Shingles in shades of Autumn Red and Spruce. The exterior renovation also included Monogram® 46XL siding in Heritage Cream, which features a TrueTexture™ rough cedar finish molded from real cedar boards and longer length panels for a virtually seamless appearance. Beaded SuperCorner™ and InvisiVent® Triple 3-1/3-inch vented soffit, both in Colonial White, complete the look and provide proper ventilation and durability.

As the 2013 grand prize winner of the $75,000 exterior makeover contest, the Bielfelts are the subject of a series of CertainTeed Living Spaces webisodes documenting the renovation of their 100-year-old home. The series follows the family, along with local contractors, from the planning stages of the renovation through its completion.

In the first few webisodes, the homeowner selected multiple products, including Cedar Impressions® and Monogram® siding, Restoration Millwork® trim, EverNew® railing, Bufftech® fence and Landmark™ Pro roofing. The homeowner also utilized the CurbAppeal® iPad app, ColorCoach™ virtual swatch book and ColorView® design tool, which allows homeowners to visualize how products will look on their home. In the last webisode, a CertainTeed Integrity Roof System™, designed to provide optimum performance regardless of weather conditions, was installed on the home.
