PEMCO World Air Services Donates to Florida Hospital Carrollwood
(PRWEB) November 20, 2014 -- PEMCO World Air Services made a generous contribution to Florida Hospital Carrollwood to help establish the PEMCO/Florida Hospital Carrollwood Breast Cancer Fund. The fund will help provide financial assistance to those women who are unable to afford mammogram services.
As PEMCO learned more about the hospital’s participation in the annual Florida Hospital statewide breast cancer awareness initiative called "The Pink Army," PEMCO wanted to make an impact that would benefit women in the local community. This year the company and team members held their 2nd Annual PEMCO Goes Pink 5K on Oct. 17. PEMCO is donating all proceeds from the race.
“One in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. It is a disease that affects all of us at some point in our lives,” said Ben Ward, PEMCO Chief Financial Officer. “Our team members wanted to give back to a local hospital and community partner who can truly make a difference in the fight against breast cancer in our community."
For Florida Hospital Carrollwood, the generous support of a local business and partner has helped establish an important resource for local women in the fight against breast cancer. “Each year that we participate in The Pink Army... we spread the message of the importance of early detection in the fight against breast cancer,” said Joe Johnson, Florida Hospital Carrollwood President and CEO. “But there are many women in our community who put off having their yearly mammogram because they do not have insurance and cannot afford to pay for the screening. By establishing our very own financial assistance fund here at Florida Hospital Carrollwood, we can truly make a difference in making mammograms available to those women who need our help.”
