Escondido’s premier laundromat owner, Ross G. Rose, worked with Western State Design’s (WSD) Steve Erlinger to provide the people of San Marcos with a 4,000 square foot, energy efficient, express laundry facility.

“16 years ago, I bought an existing store and installed new Dexter equipment. I am amazed at how well the Dexters still look and perform,” said Rose.

The new laundromat, just south of Highway 78 on South Rancho Santa Fe Road, is the sixth local laundry venture for Grande Place Laundry owner, Rose. A long-time local resident and dedicated businessman, he personally monitors and guarantees the highest quality experience for customers and quickly responds to all comments and requests.

Considering the million-dollar investment, the water conservation guidelines and sewer connection fees, laundromat operators in North County, have walked away for greener business pastures for years, leaving San Marcos without a convenient and up-to-date laundry center.

With 26 years of personal experience, Rose chose to work with Erlinger and WSD, to ensure that only the finest Dexter laundry equipment and store design would be in place. “16 years ago, I bought an existing store and installed new Dexter equipment. I am amazed at how well the Dexters still look and perform,” said Rose.

In 2007 and 2008 he chose another equipment brand (for four stores), not realizing that not all laundry equipment provides the uncompromised quality and reliability of Dexter’s engineering and materials. Rose explained, “Our Dexter store consistently uses 30% less water per dollar of revenue than our non-Dexter stores! We use 6.5 gallons per dollar of revenue with the Dexters and 9.5 gallons per dollar of revenue with other coin-op laundry equipment.”

Rose and Erlinger plan for the long term. Machinery in service for 15 or more years takes precedence over saving a few dollars on an initial purchase. The quality of design, materials, and craftsmanship impacts the longevity, performance, durability and appearance of the product. Dexter has been manufacturing quality laundry equipment for more than 100 years. It is an American, employee owned company based in Fairfield, Iowa. Their environmentally friendly “Express” line of coin-op equipment uses less water and spins at a higher speed during the spin (or extract) cycle, which removes more water from the laundered goods. Less water coming out of the wash cycle means shorter drying time - saving natural gas, time and money for the customer.

San Marcos Grande Laundry Place has many customer perks. It uses a Loyalty Card System - no more depositing up to 30 coins! When purchasing $20 worth of credit, an additional $2 is added to loyalty cards and on Thursdays, the dryer cost is as low as 1 cent per minute. There are two spacious rooms - one for wash and one for dry with folding tables. Grande Laundry Place offers flat screen TVs (English and Spanish), with Wifi at most, and complimentary coffee all day. Easy access and parking are a given and, if timing is right, customers may receive a gift card for a pizza or free donuts and pizza on site.

Rose also extends his community loyalty in support of the well-being of local animals. Grande Laundry contributes over $25,000 every year to the Escondido Humane Society.
