Named All-America City, Investment in Fort Lauderdale Real Estate Steadily Increasing
Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) November 26, 2014 -- The City of Fort Lauderdale recently captured the prestigious All-America City Award, which was presented by the National Civic League at its annual conference in Denver, Colorado. Established in 1949, the All-America City Award recognizes cities, countries, towns, neighborhoods, and metropolitan areas across the country for exemplary community-based problem solving and civic engagement efforts that involve public, private and non-profit entities.
Fort Lauderdale was one of 10 cities to win the award, and the only city in Florida nominated this year. The projects that the city highlighted in its application were the Dillard Innovation Zone Promise Neighborhood, the redevelopment of Flagler Village and Northwest Gardens. The Dillard Innovation Zone Promise Neighborhood project, for example, cultivates collaboration between community and businesses to support school improvement, health service interventions, mentoring, enhanced classroom technology, reading, and literacy initiatives at Dillard Elementary School.
The All-America City award is not the first national accolade Fort Lauderdale has received. It also holds the distinction of being among the “Top 10 Best Downtowns in 2014” by Livability.com, the “Top 10 Best U.S. Cities for Small Business” by Biz2Credit.com, and the “Top 10 Best Places to Retire” by Money Magazine. The list of achievements for this vibrant city is quite long.
