Linda C. Mack, founder and president of Mack International, LLC, the premier family office retained executive search and strategic human capital/management consulting firm, moderated a panel on “Women and Minority-owned Firms” at the Opal Financial Group Emerging Managers Summit South, held Nov. 6-7 at the Hyatt Regency Austin in Austin, Texas.
The Opal Emerging Manager Summit showcased a broad spectrum of emerging fund managers. The event covered a number of topics including styles and strategies for emerging managers and hedge funds.
The panel included Leah Bennett, CIC, CFA, Co-Chief Investment Officer, South Texas Money Management, Ltd. And Dana Moore Brisendine, President, HMS Capital Management, LLC.
“We enjoyed such an interactive discussion that after the session ended, many participants continued a spirited conversation afterwards,“ said Mack. “Panelists cited several independent research studies and surveys that found female and minority-owned investment firms have outperformed the hedge fund universe at large, for example, and, concluded that including these firms in a portfolio should produce higher returns.”
Mack continued, “The session discussion affirmed the trend that the appetite for including women and minority-owned firms in private and institutional portfolios is growing, as investors see the evidence that their funds enhance overall portfolio performance.”
