Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group Nursing Centers Awarded New Post-Acute Care Certification from The Joint Commission
Braintree MA (PRWEB) November 25, 2014 -- Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group nursing centers in Massachusetts continue its well established tradition of providing nursing excellence. Brighton House Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Brighton and John Scott House Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Braintree each received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for accreditation and certification by demonstrating compliance with national standards for advanced post-acute care services, health care quality, and patient and resident safety in nursing homes.
Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is the nation’s largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 20,500 health care organizations and programs in the United States, inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value. The new Post-Acute Care Certification option became available as part of the Nursing Care Center accreditation program in July 2013.
Brighton House and John Scott House underwent a rigorous on-site survey to obtain The Joint Commission’s Nursing Care Center accreditation and Post-Acute Care certification option. The Joint Commission expert surveyor evaluated each nursing center for compliance with standards of care for post-acute care services as well as those specific to the needs of all patients and residents, including infection prevention and control, leadership, and medication management. The accreditation and certification awards recognize Brighton House and John Scott House’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards.
"In achieving Joint Commission accreditation and certification, the Welch Group has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its patients and residents that goes beyond federal and state requirements," says Gina Zimmermann, M.S., executive director, Nursing Care Center Accreditation, The Joint Commission. “Accreditation and certification are voluntary processes and I commend Brighton House and John Scott House for successfully undertaking both of these challenges to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”
“Receiving accreditation and certification from The Joint Commission confirms Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group’s ongoing commitment and dedication to providing the highest quality healthcare to our residents,” says Richard M. Welch, president of Welch Healthcare & Retirement Group. In addition, each rehabilitation and skilled nursing center continually invests in ways to enhance the well-being of each resident through stimulating social events and activities.
The Joint Commission's Nursing Care Center accreditation program, formerly the Long Term Care accreditation program, was established in 1966 and accredits nearly 1,000 organizations offering nursing and post-acute care services.
