Anousheh Ansari Joins Fortune Most Powerful Women: Next Gen
RICHARDSON, Texas (PRWEB) November 25, 2014 -- WHAT: Prodea Systems’ CEO and Co-founder Anousheh Ansari will participate in the upcoming Fortune Most Powerful Women: Next Gen conference, where she will be interviewed on her experience as the first female private space explorer as well as the knowledge gained in founding multiple technology companies on the event’s main stage. The inaugural event gathers preeminent rising women in business—along with select leaders in government, philanthropy, education, sports and the arts—for a wide-range of conversations meant to inspire and deliver practical advice to enhance one’s business and career.
WHO: Anousheh Ansari co-founded Prodea Systems in 2006. That same year, Anousheh blasted off into space for an eight-day expedition aboard the International Space Station and captured headlines around the world as the first female private space explorer. She also earned a place in history as the first astronaut of Iranian descent, the first Muslim woman, and the fourth private explorer to visit space. As a successful serial entrepreneur and active proponent of world-changing technologies and social entrepreneurship, she along with her family provided the title sponsorship for the Ansari X PRIZE, a $10 million cash award for the first non-governmental organization to launch a reusable manned spacecraft into space twice within two weeks. Prior to Prodea, the Ansari family founded Telecom Technologies (TTI) and developed one of the telecommunications industry’s first softswitch platforms that helped enable the global adoption of Voice over IP (VoIP). TTI was acquired by Sonus Networks in 2000 for approximately $1.2 billion, one of the largest acquisitions in the telecommunications market at that time. The acquisition helped fund Prodea and the Ansari XPRIZE.
On stage, Anousheh will be interviewed by Michal Lev-Ram, Fortune senior writer and co-chair of Fortune Most Powerful Women: Next Gen.
WHEN: Anousheh’s interview will take place during day two of the conference on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 9:50 a.m. – 10:05 a.m. PT. The entire Fortune Most Powerful Women: Next Gen conference will take place from Tuesday, December 2 to Wednesday, December 3, 2014.
WHERE: Fortune Most Powerful Women: Next Gen will be held at the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco.
