The First Tee of the Lowcountry Partners with Colleton River Plantation Club
Bluffton, SC (PRWEB) November 26, 2014 -- The First Tee of the Lowcountry and the Colleton River Plantation Club are joining forces to promote golf and life-skills with young people throughout the Lowcountry. This agreement will leverage the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, to be held at Colleton River in 2015, as a foundational event.
The First Tee is an international organization that seeks to build character and instill life-enhancing values for boys and girls through the game of golf. Its programs combine golf training with the teaching of its “Nine Core Values” that apply both to golf and life. The First Tee of the Lowcountry was founded in 2013 with initial programs in Hilton Head, Bluffton and Beaufort, and completion of a dedicated facility in Hilton Head is planned for 2015.
Colleton River Plantation Club was chosen by the USGA to host the 2015 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. This event, involving six days of stroke-play and match play, invites participation from top U.S. and international golfers under the age of 18. The Championship, which will take place from July 20-25, 2015, is viewed to be a path for future golf champions, as evidenced by past winners Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth.
Mike Davis, Executive Director of the First Tee of the Lowcountry says, “With its celebration of youth golf, the 2015 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship is the perfect vehicle to boost awareness for our recently founded chapter of the First Tee. We are delighted that Colleton River is working with us to expand our program.”
“Our club is hugely supportive of the values that can be instilled in young people through golf”, says Al Thiess, USGA 2015 Junior Amateur Chair at Colleton. “This tried and true program has garnered rave reviews, and our members are delighted to support the First Tee as part of our commitment to the local community.”
