Colleges Laud Big Data Analytics as Career Path for Students and Opportunity for Business Growth
Montclair, NJ (PRWEB) November 26, 2014 -- The New Jersey Big Data Alliance (NJBDA), a partnership of the state’s higher education institutions dedicated to furthering NJ’s reputation as a leader in innovation and cutting edge technology, is holding a Big Data Conference on the campus of Montclair State University. “Current Trends in Big Data Analytics: What are Employers Looking For?” features Joe Caserta, president of consulting and technology innovation firm Caserta Concepts, and other thought-leaders in the big data analytics field.
The event takes place on Tuesday, December 2nd and is hosted by the School of Business at Montclair State University (SBUS). The conference examines current trends in big data analytics, business use cases and for students aspiring to enter the field, the skill sets needed for success. In addition to Joe Caserta, speakers include Steve LoSardo, Senior Principal at IMS Health, Pranay Agrawal, Co-founder and EVP of Fractal Analytics, and Melanie Murphy, Senior Director of Customer & Business Analytics at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
“Montclair State is excited to host the Big Data seminar as we, and all the members of NJBDA, recognize how important a field it is,” said Dr. Rashmi Jain, chair of the Department of Information and Operations Management at Montclair State University School of Business. “ The school is particularly pleased to have Joe Caserta, a noted authority in the field, here to speak from real world experience.”
Members of the NJBDA include Montclair State University (host of the event), Kean University, Princeton University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rowan University, Rutgers University, St. Peters University, Stevens Institute and Stockton College. MSU plans to launch a degree program in analytics in the fall.
“This is clearly a significant time for technology and big data as the purposeful analysis and strategic application of information can have an impact on business, education and every aspect of our lives,” said Joe Caserta. “I am honored to be a part of the discussion where colleges and universities unite with a common purpose to encourage new career paths for students while supporting economic growth in their own back yards.”
The December 2nd seminar is organized by Montclair State’s Department of Information and Operations Management, (aka SBUS) and is the New Jersey Big Data Alliance’s (NJBDA) inaugural educational seminar. It is free and open to faculty, students and staff at all New Jersey Big Data Alliance institutions, as well as industry and government professionals.
